Storm Alert 2008

Our annual severe weather awareness tour is coming soon!

This year, we will focus on the 10th anniversary of the April 8, 1998 F5 tornado that killed 32 people in Jefferson County. That same parent thunderstorm dropped another smaller tornado later that killed two people in St. Clair County. We will check on some storm survivors and see how their lives have changed. Our tour this year stops at two places that were heavily impacted by the severe weather that day; Oak Grove High School, and Bethel Baptist Church in Moody. Both of those structures were destroyed that night.

We will also feature a story on the heroes of the March 1, 2007 tornado that killed 8 students at Enterprise High School in Southeast Alabama. And, some important information about the ongoing drought that is impacting Alabama and the Southeast U.S.

As always, you can meet the entire weather team, get important severe weather safety information you and your family can use, and have a chance to win some great prizes.

Here is the 2008 schedule:

January 31: Oak Grove High School Auditorium
February 7: Anniston City Meeting Center
February 12: Northport Civic Center
February 21: Lineville High School Gym
February 26: Bethel Baptist Church in Moody

All of the shows begin at 7:00, and be sure and get there early to get a good seat. We look forward to meeting hundreds of Alabamians this year!
